Community Archaeologist Alexis Haslam has put together an exceptional visit to historic Fulham Palace for our CBA London Festival of Archaeology for our 2025 Festival of Archaeology finale. The remaining tickets are now open to the public.
The Scheduled Ancient Monument of Fulham Palace is a significant site, with archaeological evidence dating back to the Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic. The discovery of a late Roman settlement suggests it was once an important location on the River Thames, with Anglo-Saxon evidence supporting this interpretation. Transferred to the Bishop of London in AD 704 it remained a home to the Bishops until 1973.
Having experienced a period of decline, numerous restoration projects have now restored the site to its former glory, with the late 15th century Tudor courtyard re-pointed and a new museum opened in 2019. The architecture of the Palace is multi-faceted and, with a number of the Bishops proving…
